Five Types of Ball Valve Body

There are 5 types of ball valve body.

1. One piece ball valve.

There is only one piece body. The advantage is that there is no leakage point on the body.

How the one piece ball valve is assembled? A big bore hole will be drilled at one side, and a thread cover will seal after ball and ball seat are installed.

The one piece ball valve has one disadvantage: the design is not suitable for big size. If size is too big, the ball would be very heavy and hard to assembled and disassembled.

2. Two Pieces Ball Valve

The two piece ball valve is the most widely used ball valve. Because the valve is floating ball, it is easy to assemble. But it is also not suitable for large size. Because if the size larger than 20”, the ball would be too heavy and will damage the seat.

3. Three Piece Ball Valve

In order to design a ball valve for large size, we developed the three piece ball valve with trunnion ball design. The ball is fixed by upper and bottom stems at the middle and then the other two parts are connected. Since the ball is fixed, it will not damage the valve seat and also it is easier to assemble.

4.Tope Entry Ball Valve

All the above three types of valve body: 1 pcs, 2pc and 3pc ball valve all has one disadvantage: if the valves need to be checked on a regular basis such as every half an hear or every year, then the valve need to be disassembled from the pipeline and it is not very convenient.

So we developed a new design ball valve, the top entry ball valve. That is all the valve components are install from the top. In this way, the valve can be repaired only by disassembling the bonnet from the body. No need to take out the valve body from pipeline.

5. Fully Welded Ball Valve

The last type of ball valve body is call fully weld ball valve. The structure is similar to 3 pc ball valve. The different is that the three bodies are connected by weld not instead of flanges. Why we need the weld connection? Because the fully weld ball valve is used for the deep underground conditions. If using flange body connection, the underground may damage the inside valve components. So the weld connection will protect the valve component from corrosion.
